Thin, hyaline, reddish shell that is straight and pyramidally shaped. Distinct transverse striation. Embryonic shell is droplet-shaped. Triangular cross-section in all parts except most posterior part. Dorsal rib protrudes slightly above shell aperture. Latero-dorsal sides both provided with three swellings of the shell, with one longitudal rib running over ventral surface. Radula composed of 7 rows. [van der Spoel, 1967]

Type Locality: 45°N16°W. [van der Spoel, 1967]
Distribution: Found from Antarctica up to 65° N in the Atlantic Ocean, and up to 50° N in the Pacific. Found in Gulf Stream Area between 45° N and 65° N, and is absent from coastal areas. Absence in Labrador Current. [van der Spoel, 1967]
