SUMMARY
Chaetopterus pugaporcinus is part of an unusual polychaete group that is benthic and tubiculous as adults, with a body divided into three distinct regions: anterior, middle, and posterior. The larvae have a unique barrel-like form with one or two ciliated bands at the midsection and a large buccal funnel. The species is characterized by its great size and its continued survival deep in the water column with a consistent combination of larval and adult features.
