SUMMARY
Saxipendium coronatum, also known as the spaghetti worm, is an acorn worm enteropneust found in the hydrothermal vents of the Galapagos Rift, characterized by its weakly developed muscles of the proboscis, coronate proboscis skeleton, long recurved skeletal crura, simple digestive tract, and cavity associated with the testis. Structures lacking in spaghetti worms but present in other enteropneusts include vermiform process, cauliflower organs, syanpticles, pygochord, hepatic caeca, and large yolky eggs. S. coronatum have small eggs, a short collar, and a proboscis skeleton that is crown-shaped in cross section.
